Mr. Sherab Namgay

Chairman

Sherab Namgay currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Agro Industries Limited. He is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and holds an MBA from Curtin University, Australia. His 22-years of professional career spans roles in corporate leadership, investment management, and performance monitoring across multiple Bhutanese Corporations. He has been involved in business restructuring, new venture development, and governance capacity building. He currently sits on several boards and has previously held directorships in companies spanning cement, steel, construction, power, polymers, and healthcare sectors. His work has mainly focused on improving operational efficiency, supporting entrepreneurship, and strengthening institutional systems.

Mr. Jamyang Tashi Wangdi

Board Member

Mr. Jamyang Tashi Wangdi serves as a Board Member of BLDCL and as Chief Livestock Officer with the Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Royal Government of Bhutan. He holds a MSc degree from Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands. He brings experience in livestock sector planning, programme coordination, performance management and the digital transformation of the livestock sector.

Mr. Sonam Tobgay

Board Member

Sonam Tobgay, Director at Druk Holding and Investments.He is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands, obtained in 2012, and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from Sherubtse College, Kanglung, Bhutan, completed in 2006.

His career reflects extensive expertise in finance, corporate governance, and strategic leadership. He serves as non-executive director on the board.

Mr. Namgay Wangchuk

Board Member

Mr. Namgay Wangchuk currently works as a General Manager in NRDCL, a DHI company. He has worked in the Civil Service for more than 15 years before he resigned in 2017 to join the corporate sector.  He holds a Master’s Degree in HR Management from Edith Cowen University, Western Australia. Aside from his professional experience, he’s a mindfulness practitioner and certified trainer in Mindfulness-based Emotional Intelligence. He’s a poet/writer.  He has so far published two books and written many columns for Kuensel, the national daily newspaper. He’s also a social worker devoted to promoting clean and healthy environment, for which he was awarded the national order of merit silver by His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo on the 117th National Day in 2024.

Mr. Dawa Sonam

Board Member

Mr. Dawa Sonam has Masters in Information Technology, from Murdoch University, Western Australia, and Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from Madras University in India.He has over 19 years of experience in Information Technology and Innovation, with more than 9 years at Executive Roles in leading Private Companies and Corporations in Bhutan.  His previous positions include Executive Director (NGN Technologies),  General Manager of IT Division (Bhutan Telecom), and IT Head (Druk Holding and Investments) among others.

Mr. Tshewang Penjor

Board Member

Mr. Tshewang Penjor is the Chief Budget Officer at the Department of Planning, Budget and Performance (DPBP), Ministry of Finance, Royal Government of Bhutan. He holds a Master of Environmental and Resource Economics from the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra, Australia, and has over 19 years of professional experience in public finance, planning, budgeting, and fiscal policy analysis.

Mr. Shankar Chhetri

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Shankar Chhetri is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bhutan Livestock Development Corporation Limited (BLDCL). He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Canberra, Australia, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from Sherubtse College, Royal University of Bhutan. He has further enhanced his professional expertise through executive programmes and specialized international training in financial sector regulation, monetary policy, green finance, risk-based supervision, credit rating, and sustainable finance.

Mr. Chhetri brings over 17 years of professional experience in leadership, strategy, corporate governance, policy formulation, institutional development, and financial sector regulation. Throughout his career, he has successfully led major national initiatives, organizational reforms, and cross-sector collaborations, earning recognition for delivering strategic outcomes, strengthening institutional capacity, and fostering innovation.

Before joining BLDCL, Mr. Chhetri served in senior leadership roles at the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan, where he spearheaded key reforms in financial regulation, risk management, corporate governance, and sustainable finance. His extensive experience in driving organizational transformation, strengthening governance frameworks, and building high-performing teams provides a strong foundation for leading BLDCL into its next phase of growth.

As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chhetri is committed to positioning BLDCL as Bhutan’s leading integrated livestock enterprise by strengthening farmer partnerships, expanding value-added processing, promoting product innovation, enhancing operational excellence, and building competitive market linkages. His vision is to transform BLDCL into a trusted, commercially sustainable, and nationally impactful corporation that contributes meaningfully to food security, rural prosperity, import substitution, and the sustainable development of Bhutan’s livestock sector.
